France, beaten finalists in last year’s inaugural competition, made it two out of two after last week’s opening win over Norway with a 3-2 defeat of Iceland.
Kadidiatou Diani struck first for the French, with Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Sandy Baltimore joining the Lyon player on the scoresheet in Le Mans.
Iceland’s goals came from two set pieces, the first a freekick from Karolina Vilhjalmsdottir, the second Ingibjorg Sigurdardottir’s corner.
This win kept the French at the top of their group.
For Eugenie Le Sommer, it was a night to remember as she came off the bench in the second half to earn a record 199th cap for Les Bleues.
Germany, held 2-2 by the Netherlands last week, got off the mark at the second attempt with a 4-1 defeat of Austria to go top of their group on goal difference from the Dutch.
Elsewhere Denmark beat Italy 3-1, the Republic of Ireland suffered a 4-0 rout by Slovenia, the Dutch defeated Scotland 2-1 and Wales and Sweden drew 1-1.
On Wednesday defending titleholders and 2023 World Cup winners Spain are at Wembley to face European champions England.
